5 things to know about Dolce & Gabbana’s Show in Venice

Dolce & Gabbana presented the new Alta Moda Collection in Venice. Venice is a city that is known both for its historic sites and its love of craft, so it’s no surprise Dolce & Gabbana selected the location for their latest Alta Moda show. One surprising thing? It was the first time in history that the city’s St Mark’s Square played host to a fashion show. What should you know about it? 

#1 WHERE

Piazzeta San Marco or St. Marks square in Venice has been chosen for first time to presents a Haute Couture or #AltaModa show. Domenico Dolce & Stefano Gabbana has done a tribute to the city.

#2 INSPIRATION

The inspiration comes from Tintoretto and Casanova, but also from the Carnival. 100 dresses delivered by gondola. 

#3 LOCAL ARTISANSHIP

The pieces were seeped in the local artisanship and creative culture of the host city.

#4 MURANO GLASS

The dress below reproduces the kaleidoscopic patterns of murano glass, also known as Venetian glass invented over 1,000 years ago and still survives today. 

#5 GUESTS

The brand pulled out all the stops when it came to celeb guests. Dame Helen Mirren, Jennifer Lopez, Sean Combs, Doja Cat, Kris Jenner, Kourtney Kardashian, Ciara, Monica Bellucci, Christian Bale, and Kitty Spencer were all there, each dressed in ornate pieces such as embellished capes and lace dresses, proving IRL fashion shows are truly back. Dolce & Gabbana presentó la nueva Colección de Alta Moda en Venecia. ¿Qué deberías saber? 

#1 Dónde : Se celebró en la Plaza de San Marco y es la primera vez que se presenta un desfile de Alta Costura en la emblemática plaza. ¿Por qué eligieron Venecia? Para hacer un tributo a la ciudad.

#2 Inspiración: La inspiración viene de Tintoretto y Casanova, pero también de Carnaval.  Ademas se presento de forma muy especial: 100 modelos llegaron en góndola a la Plaza.

#3 Artesanos locales: Las piezas han sido cosidas a mano, una a una, en talleres de artesanos locales.

#4 Cristal murano: Este tipo de cristal veneciano con mas de 1000 años de historia fue empleado en varios vestidos.

#5 Invitados: J.Lo fue el foco de todas las miradas, con un total look de Dolce & Gabbana.
